Clinical Interests:
Ellie is a board certified Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who received her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the University of Minnesota. She works primarily with children and adolescents, between the ages of 6 and 17, with special interests in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), depression and anxiety disorders such as generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. Ellie believes in advocating for her clients’ academic success and has an understanding of the impact mental health can have on educational experiences.
Clinical Approach:
Ellie has training and experience in mental health, spanning all age groups. While she focuses her care on children and adolescents, Ellie will follow her clients through adulthood. She has an appreciation for the many benefits that medication can play in improving well-being yet recognizes the need for close management of pharmaceuticals to achieve therapeutic benefits while minimizing side effects. Ellie’s philosophy of practice is patient- and family-centered care. She works with patients and their families to ensure a holistic approach to mental health management.
Hobbies:
Ellie is a native Iowan, having lived in Ottumwa, Cedar Rapids, and Iowa City. She is proud and excited to be practicing in her home state. In her free time, Ellie enjoys spending time with friends and family, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, and playing the guitar and piano.
