More About Abby Meyer

Clinical Interests:

I have experience working with individuals across the lifespan with a variety of current life difficulties, no issue is too big or too small. I enjoy being able to help clients to reconnect with themselves so that they no longer feel numb to the experience of life. I enjoy working with a variety of identities but connect deeply with survivors of traumatic experiences and gender-diverse individuals. I have experience working with the following diagnoses or difficulties: post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), acute stress disorder, adjustment disorder, major depressive disorder (MDD), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anger management, and dissociation related disorders.

Clinical Approach:

I believe in the power of my clients and utilizing their strengths and interests in guiding the way their treatment goes. I consider client’s various identities to be pivotal to my understanding of how to best help them reach healing. As a foundation to my work, I incorporate the ideals of acceptance and commitment therapy by encouraging clients to utilize mindfulness, social connection, acceptance, defusing negative thoughts, and living according to their values. For clients who have experienced trauma, my goal is to help them better understand the way our body and brain interact and how to align the two of them to function better.

Hobbies:

I love to be creative, to challenge myself, and to problem solve; so this naturally means that I love board games, crafting, DIY-ing, reading, and taking on various hobbies. I also enjoy listening to music, my typical genres are indie or R&B, and I am always on the hunt for new artists or songs!
