Psychological Counseling
Psychological counseling, also known as psychotherapy, is a journey into yourself. Working with your Psychiatric Associates therapist, you’ll begin to see yourself more clearly so you can start making changes in your life. In time, you may be able to work through your problems and manage painful symptoms.
Your therapist doesn’t do the work for you. Instead, you and your therapist are equal partners in the process.
You’ll have regular sessions with your therapist. To get the most from these sessions, you need to be open and honest. You also must be willing to face your problems. And you must be willing to change.
How long you spend in therapy depends on the kind of problem you have. For some problems, long-term therapy is needed. Other problems may respond to brief psychotherapy.
The Psychiatric Associates team offers many different types of psychotherapy, including:
- Individual counseling
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- EMDR
- Family therapy
- Group therapy
- Couples counseling
- Art therapy
- Play therapy
- Animal-assisted therapy
