More About Barbara O’Rourke
Clinical Interests:
As a psychologist, Barbara works collaboratively with individuals to help them explore what has led to current suffering and how to approach their suffering in ways that can lead to a more fulfilling life. She considers herself a generalist in that she works with many different presenting issues from anxiety, depression and grief to issues of life transition, such as adjustment to collegiate life and retirement.
Clinical Approach:
Within that quest, Barbara’s nursing background has helped her to be mindful of biological and health issues as they may relate to emotional and spiritual wellness. As a psychologist, she is also able to offer psychologist assessment for issues such as addressing questions regarding a person’s ability to function in his or her world, personality assessment, pre-surgical approval and the construction of a personalized treatment regimen. Barbara’s minor area of focus in her education was in developmental psychology and the psychology of women.
